Why do Americans complain about Chinese counterfeit goods, but love buying them?
America is the largest destination market for counterfeit goods. No one loves “knock-offs” more than cheap Americans. For example, 99% of the luxury products sold on Ebay are counterfeit. Americans will eagerly pay $50 for a Gucci handbag that should cost $900, then they complain because the handbag is counterfeit. What did they think it was? Real? Are Americans hypocrites, confused, ignorant, or what?
“Do as I say, not as I do” is the motto of America and Europe. Two-faced Americans and Europeans are well known for their hypocrisy and that moral deficiency extends into the realm of shopping. Westerners like to buy counterfeit goods, but they simultaneously want to criticize the people who sell those same goods. This paradox is what happens when “holier than thou” arrogance collides with “good quality at reasonable prices”.
It is fun to criticize others while performing misdeeds of your own. Look at U.S. Secretary of State Hilary Clinton criticizing Wikileaks as being dangerous, when the real issue is Clinton’s back-stabbing lies against foreign leaders have been exposed as being dangerous.
